Our Story
Celebrating 50 Years of the Wake County Metal Detecting Club
The Wake County Metal Detecting Club has proudly been in operation for 50 remarkable years! Originally founded in 1974 as the Triangle Relic Recovery & Historical Preservation Association (TRR), our club was established to unite history enthusiasts from Raleigh, NC, and surrounding areas. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for meetings and foster good camaraderie among members.
A Diverse and Growing Community
Over the years, our club has expanded beyond the Raleigh area, attracting members from various walks of life. Whether you are in law enforcement, a contractor, a tech enthusiast, a business owner, a retiree, or simply a friendly individual with an interest in history, you will find a place here. Our common passion is to locate, document, display, and preserve items from the past.
Tools and Techniques
Our members employ a variety of tools and techniques to search both on land and in water. This diversity in skills and equipment allows us to uncover and preserve a wide array of historical treasures.
Monthly Meetings and More
We gather on the 3rd Friday of each month, where members bring their valued treasures and share fascinating stories with the group. But our activities extend beyond these meetings:
-
Private Club Hunts: Enjoy both seeded and natural hunts.
-
Giveaways: Participate in exciting giveaways.
-
Special Guest Speakers: Learn from experts and enthusiasts.
-
Private Parties: Celebrate with fellow members in a relaxed setting.
